West Side Lumber #2, Tuolumne, CA

This cute little narrow gauge (36") two truck Heisler was built by Stearns Manufacturing Co., in Erie, PA, in 1899 as #2 for the West Side Flume & Lumber Co., in Tuolumne, CA. A year later it was transferred to the Hetch-Hetchy & Yosemite Valley Railway and named "William H. Crocker". It then survived a series of corporate sales, ending up with Pickering Lumber Corp., as West Side Lumber #2. It was donated to the County of Tuolumne in 1960 and is on display in the West Side Memorial Park.

#2 weighs 74,000 lbs. It has 36" drivers and 15" x 12" cylinders. An oil burner operating at a boiler pressure of 160 psi, it delivered 14,000 lbs tractive effort.
