Consolidation (2-8-0) type locomotive #60 was built in 1886 for the Union Pacific Railroad by the Rhode Island Locomotive Works for use on their Utah & Northern subsidiary where it was numbered #263. A narrow gauge (36”) locomotive, it weighs 61,690 lbs, 53,690 lbs on its 37” drivers. With 16” x 18” cylinders and operating at a boiler pressure of 150 psi, it delivered 15,816 lbs tractive effort.
#263 was sold to the Denver, Leadville & Gunnison in 1889 which, the following year was consolidated into the Colorado & Southern, and the engine was renumbered #60. It was donated to the City of Idaho Springs in 1941 and is on display in the Harold A. Anderson Park.
