
#333 is an 0-6-0 switcher built for the Illinois Central in 1918 at Alco's Cooke Locomotive Works in Paterson, NJ. At 169,000 lbs it is one of the heaviest 0-6-0s built in the US and has 52” drivers and 21” x 26” cylinders. A coal burner operating a boiler pressure of 230 psi, it delivered 46,000 lbs tractive effort.
In 1960, #333 was sold to the Charles Black Sand & Gravel Co., in Fluker, LA. In 1965, it was bought by J. P. Varnado in Baton Rouge, LA, and went on display at the Arts & Science Center in Baton Rouge, LA, In 2011, #333 was moved to the Tioga Heritage Park & Museum in Tioga, LA.
