Not much is certain regarding this coal
burning narrow gauge (36”) 0-4-0T
locomotive on display in Kentwood, MI.
It was built by the Vulcan Iron Works in
Wilkes-Barre, PA, in 1916 as #28 for the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Coal
Mining Department, a subsidiary of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad. It worked at the Loomis Colliery in Plymouth,
PA. When the department was sold to the
Glen Alden Coal Company, it was renumbered #9 and worked at the Wanamie Colliery in Wanamie, PA. Rebuilt with a new boiler by Vulcan in 1949, it worked into the 1960s.
I have not been able to locate anything regarding its technical details.
