#100 was the first locomotive bought by the Elkin & Alleghany Railway headquartered in Elkin, NC. The road ran eighteen miles from Elkin to a junction with the Richmond & Danville and, although it was successful for about ten years after opening in 1911, it began suffering a downturn with the opening of US Route 21 in 1921.
#100 was sold to Atlanta, GA, based dealer Georgia Car & Locomotive in 1919, who sold it to Kaul Lumber of Kaulton, AL, where it was renumbered #15. It landed back at Georgia Car & Locomotive in 1941 and was sold on to the rebuilder/reseller Birmingham Rail & Locomotive. Birmingham Rail sold it to the Atlantic & Western in 1942, where it was renumbered #10. It there joined its partner, Raleigh & Southport Railway Company #10, built to the same specification by Baldwin in 1911 and numbered Atlantic & Western #12 (you can see photos of it on the ATW #12 page of this website).
In 1968, #10 was bought by J. David Conrad in Sanford, NC, and then in 1971 it was sold to Youth Camps for Christ Incorporated and went on display at Camp Willow Run on Lake Gaston in Littleton, NC.
