This coal burning 0-4-0ST (Saddle Tank) locomotive was built in 1924 by the Davenport Locomotive Works in Davenport, IA, as Great Western Sugar Co., #29.

The engine weighs 50,000 lbs. With 12” x 16” cylinders and 32” drivers, it operated at a boiler pressure of 170 psi delivering 10,368 lbs tractive effort.

At some point, the engine was donated to the
City of Mitchell, NE, and is on display just off Railway St near the intersection with Center Ave. When I visited, it was looking in pretty rough condition.
