I initially thought this rusty little Heisler was Broughton Lumber #2, missing its characteristic onion stack. However, Dr. Raimund Lierhammer has pointed out that it is, in fact, Pickering Lumber Corporation #1 with its tender set aside. My thanks to Dr. Lierhammer - I always welcome positive and constructive feedback on this site.

The locomotive was built by the Heisler Locomotive Works in Dunkirk, NY, as #1 for the Sunset Timber Co., in Raymond, WA, in 1913. It was sold to the Demsey Lumber Co., in Hamilton, WA, then to the Standard Lumber Co., in Standard, CA, before that firm was consolidated into the Pickering Lumber Co.

In 1958, #1 was sold to the Connel Motor Truck Co., in Stockton, CA, then in 1966 to R.A. O'Kane in Monterey, CA, who donated it to the Pacific Locomotive Association in Richmond, CA, in 1985. It has since moved around a bit before ending up at Tillamook under the aegis of the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad in 2015. I understand it may be used to supply spare parts for another locomotive.

#1 weighs 170,000 lbs and has 18" x 16" cylinders and 40" drivesrs. An oil burner operating at a boiler pressure of 180 psi it delivered 32,500 lbs tractive effort.
